Humanity in the Face of Adversity - 23 Feb 14
Fr Steve Voyt
In this homily Father Steve discusses the story of Jesse Owens (African American) during the 1936 Berlin Olympics and his relationship with Lutz Long (German). This is an interesting story of the two best long jumpers in the world at a time when Hitler was trying to make a statement of racial supremacy. It is a story of the power of love and humanity in the face of adversity.
In this homily Father Steve also explores how the anger and resentment that we hold so tightly hurts us and how we need to ask God for the gift of forgiveness, which will change us and possibly others.
