Question Why do Catholics portray Jesus on a cross?

Answer Many non-Catholic Christians will say to you, “Jesus has risen and therefore should not be portrayed on the cross.”  While Jesus has risen, we as Catholics also recognize the Passion, which is remembered with Jesus on the cross.  Jesus on the cross is a constant reminder that He redeemed us through His suffering.

The cross has much more significance by Jesus' presence on it – a personal encounter – reminding us of Jesus' unconditional and passionate endless love and His infinite mercy He has for all of us.
