Welcome to St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Moody AFB
Let me introduce myself, I am Father Tom Angelo, the priest at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Moody Air Force Base. We welcome all military affiliated members to join us at Mass. If you are new to our community, please introduce yourself to me this Sunday.
Our faith community is dedicated to creating an environment of fellowship through worship, outreach and services. I encourage you to become active in our ministries. Becoming part of our ministry is a great way to get to know people while becoming an active member of the church. In addition, service gives you a creative outlet to living your baptismal commitments, helps the parish in fulfilling its pastoral obligations, and gives us the opportunity to get to know you personally.

Charitable Outreach - Knights of Columbus
In keeping with its mission to build a better world through charitable outreach, the Knights of Columbus have joined with the US military and other humanitarian organizations to provide wheelchairs and prosthetics for children injured during the January 2010 earthquake in Haiti. This partnership will bring wheelchairs for injured individuals and prosthetic devices over the next 2 years, refitting the devices as they grow. The program also involved the necessary physical therapy and training for children to learn to use the devices. This is only made possible by the generosity of the Knights of Columbus.

Looking for Volunteers
The parish is looking for volunteers to serve on the Sunday Social Committee. We're looking for someone to lead the team and three or four others to help in the kitchen. Let Betty Cherry, Sherri Burgess or Father Tom if you're interested in volunteering.
Here's your opportunity to serve. There are only three things that we can give in our service of the Lord. They are our time, our talents, and our treasure. Truthfully, they are not even ours to offer, they are only ours to offer back. The Lord owns all that is and we can give Him nothing that isn’t already His. Each of our talents were given to us by God.
Parish Council
Our next Parish Council meeting will be held on 14 Sep at 11:30 a.m.
in the Social Hall. All parishioners are invited to attend.
Families Transferring
If you are new to the parish or are transferring to another base, please contact Sherri as soon as possible.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
RCIA is a process of faith development for adults interested in joining the Catholic Church. If you're not Catholic and want to become Catholic or you simply want to learn more about your faith, then contact Christine for more information.
Many parents will be coming to the chapel early to drop off their children for various RE classes. The RCIA class would be an excellent vehicle to deepen your own faith while your children are deepening their faith.
The RCIA team leader is Sherri Burgess. Also, on the RCIA team is Carolyn Gilman and Frank Zybricky.
If you're interested in being part of the RCIA team or want to attend the RCIA program, then contact Christine or Sherri.

Ask Father Tom a Question
|

|
Father Tom,
I want to better understand “sacrifice” as it pertains to the Old and New Testament. In the Old Testament there appear to be many animals sacrificed to include the sprinkling of blood. Why? Also is this sacrifice somehow related to the Eucharist becoming the “living sacrifice” during the Mass?
Answer: The concept of sacrifice in the Hebrew world was strictly used to describe religious rites and objects. Sacrifice was a joyful, festive time of thanksgiving to God and the sacrifices performed were gladly offered as an expression of one’s attitude toward God.
